We hope you will join us for a Historical Trauma and Native Americans, Training of Trainer workshop on January 6 and 7 in Chico California. The curriculum will help you explore all of the dimensions of historic trauma in a way that will assist your clients, groups and community to make positive, lasting changes in their lives.http://www.connectingcirclesofcare.com/NAhistoricaltraumaflyerweb.pdf.
Historic trauma and the effects of historic trauma among Native Americans are well-documented phenomenon that takes a devastating toll at all levels of existence – psychological, physical and spiritual. The Historic Trauma and Native Americans Curriculum offered by Connecting Circles of Care, Inc. is a culmination of many years of experience and practical application with Native people. It was developed by Native American professionals with decades of experience in the field. These individuals include Rosalind Hussong, Ph.D. (Chickasaw) with a doctorate in Cultural Psychology, and Joyce Gonzales (Apache), a licensed substance abuse and domestic violence counselor. Their years of field work is augmented by intensive research and input from members of various Native communities. The curriculum is designed to be used by therapists, substance abuse counselors, and social workers that work with Native populations. This curriculum is also beneficial in teaching college-level students enrolled in social work, psychology and Native American studies.
