PERT in San Diego is useless
worse than a joke.
i called them twice this week to my home where my son lives next door to help get my son into a hospital for evaluation. He was, is obviously delusional aggressive, off his meds, unable to care for himself, adanger to himself and others. I showed them documeentation, photos of him crawling through audio tape of him threatening my life, property destroyed, his drs name, his case manager background on his treatments diagnoises, hospitalizations as paranoid schizophrenic. They blew it off agreed he was totally delusional, and unstable.
The cops came the first time, refusesd to call the pert team, said they get hundreds of calls and are real busy, said very rudely they werent my personal ambulance service, and they deemed he didnt fit criteria for evaluation. Told me to stay away from him not to attempt to give him medicine or food. Then told him at least five times he did not have to go to a hospital if he didnt want to. i told them he was going to get more threatening now that id called and they did nothing. they drove off while he yell and broke things
The next time 3 cop cars came friday , he was raging and in even worse shape. i had again asked for the pert teams help. i provided an audio tape of him earlier in day saying he was coming back to kill me. Both times they only asked him if he intended to harm himself or others, he is crazy but not stupid he said no. They left saying you have to get his dr to come out and get him in hospital.
Again they were dismissive and very rude. Both his casemanager and dr said he need to be hospitalized but both refused to come out saying, we wont put ourselves in danger, the police and pert dont give a rats behind, the trigger happy cops in san diego dont want to deal with mentally ill unless they can empty their guns into them.
the dr finally answered my emergency calls messages left, saying well monday morning i could go to conservators office and get an affidavant signed and give it to police next time i call. to call an ambulance. when i asked if he had address or phone for that office, he acted put out and told me to look it up myself. The people who get paid to help the mentally ill get treatment and be safe dont earn their keep.
my son has now been out in the street all night last night and its nearly midnight tonite, local business have reported to me yesterday and last night he was throwing things around xcussing threatening, deluisional angry aggressive.
He was last seen about noon today. Of course privacy laws prevent any hospital from calling me his mother - he has my card and number on him, unless he authorizes them too, if i call hospitals they say they cant tell me if he is there.
Thank you for writing. I’ve forwarded your email message along to the staff at the San Diego County Department of Mental Health for their attention. Should I receive any further information from them, I will send it to you.

Also, if PERT doesn't work, and you live in south bay area your welcome to come to the office I work at South Bay Guidance Wellness & Recovery Center located in 835 3rd Ave Chula Vista, CA 91911. Here we have dr's on site, clinical staff who can give your son his meds, will even call PERT for him, or faciliate client to Bay View Hospital. The only thing with PERT is that they don't go by 3rd parties statement if the clt is telling them they aren't going to hurt themself then they won't take the person, but if they get rude and disrespectful report them.
Hope this is of any help to you.
