Helmstetter receives OCCAC honor; Wounded Warrior walk at Echo; Piqua Country Club wins MVGA Team Invitational

Edison State Community Collge senior middle hitter Kasey Helmstetter was recently named OCCAC Player of the Week in in D-II volleyball

The sophomore opened the week with eleven kills and one error over sixteen attempts in three sets of work against conference foe Clark State. She followed that up with ten kills in a three set win over OSU-Lima, and then she closed the week with eleven kills in a three set win over conference opponent Lorain County Community College. For the week she totaled 28 kills on 46 attempts for a .565 hitting percentage. She also accumulated 13.5 blocks over the course of the week.

Wounded Warrior

walk/run at Echo

The sixth annual Wounded Warrior 5K walk/ run will be held on Saturday, Nov. 11.

It will begin at 9 a.m. at Echo Hills Golf Course.

Cost is $25 and includes t-shirt.

You may register that morning or at at Echo Hills or Joe Thoma’s in advance.

Registration forms can be found at piquaoh.org

Coffee,water, apples, bananas provided and timing is available.

PCC golf team

wins MVGA event

Piqua Country Club won the 24th playing of the Miami Valley Team Invitational recently at Sugar Valley Country Club. Their total score of 439 was one shot better than the second place team from NCR Country Club at 440.

The tournament consisted of three formats of nine holes each with each player competing in better ball, alternate shot and singles. This is PCC’s first victory in the events history.

Team members were Andy Arp, Kasey Carter, Ton Christy, Mike Curtis, Darrin Grove, Phil Kazer Dave Larger and Chad Sherrill.
