Lanterman Petris Short Act (LPS) Conservatorship

The LPS Conservatorship Administration acts as the guardian (conservator) for individuals found to be gravely disabled due to a mental disorder and/or alcoholism. Behavioral Health staff provides placement of individuals who have been placed on conservatorship, in Institutions for Mental Disease, State Hospital, Board and Care, or independent placements. LPS conservatees are cared for in a manner that provides the least restrictive care that is needed and rehabilitative goals designed to restore levels of functioning. It is the goal of this unit to assist Imperial County residents placed on LPS Conservatorship to return to independent living and to reintegrate back into the community.
